Understand Social Media Analytics

Written by Amy Chamberlain | September 15, 2016

Your social media marketing can be more effective if you take the time to understand your target market. With a little time spent on market research and analysis, you can focus your posts to be more in tune with the changing needs of your target audience.

Consider the following:

1. The gender of your target audience

With insights into the gender of your audience you will have a better understanding about the type of content your audience is more interested in seeing. If your product is directed mainly towards females, use pictures in your posts that would relate more to them than males.

2. The age of your target audience

This information will help you with content and tone. If you have a relatively younger audience, a more laid back and easy-going tone might be more effective.

3. The location of your target audience

This is very important if you are hoping to do business globally. Knowing the time that your audience is online based on its time zone is essential. You may need to schedule a post for 4:00 a.m. your time so that it will be on your target audience’s feed at 10:00 a.m. their time to increase your chances of the post being seen.

4. The time of day your target audience is online

If your audience is online between 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Mondays, but only in the evening Tuesday through to Friday, then you will need to keep that in mind when posting new content.

Make social media analytics an integral part of your business’ marketing process to get a better understanding of your audience and make your online marketing more effective.
